'And try to look as if you don't care less, but if you wanna see some MORE'!
Greetings chappees and chapettes, and welcome to a new blog, delayed somewhat by illness, some social life, coursework, assignments, cute children and vintage cheese!
Also apologies for this blog not being the depressing one advertised, although as I have now deleted the sentence which advertised this as being depressing, its not my problem! It was written in a rush and in a fluster, so it wouldn't have made much sense if I had wrote anything about it! Anyways, on with the post
I shall start off the day after I last posted, and me and Mom were invited round to a friends house for a house party to celebrate him getting a new job. Now, as usual with any party that we are invited to, things don't always go as smoothly as first thought. So, as there were 25 people around college invited, and it wasn't too far for us to travel into kings heath, we thought we would be fashionably late and arrive at around 8-ish, as we knew everyone else was going to arrive at 7.30. ...
...Cue us arriving and finding a parking space right outside his house, which was nice.....especially as we were the first ones there!! Not too embarrassing so far? well not if u don't count the fact that out of the 25 invited, only 5 turned up! Well never mind, it was a 'cosy' evening and we had a good laugh, mainly at our friends' university mates that he brought along, who were like extras out of beetlejuice! One looked like a gay, short, cave-dweller, who spoke with an overly camp squeaky voice, another looked like a fair-haired lurch, who kept giggling around all night, and the other one was just as tall as lurch, but with Duran Duran hair (the 'over one eye' job). The evening itself was pretty good, we made the best of it by spending most of the night slagging off people from work, which is always good fun.
Anyway, onto saturday, and the ritual slaughter that was the front garden. We have a conifer in the front garden that has been slowly dying over the last year or so, so today we decided to take it out from the bottom up and clear a space to put something fairly colourful there in its place...
...cue 4 blisters, a scar on the back of my hand and demonic thoughts that this thing HAS to come out today or we move house!!! It was worth it in the end after a good ole yank on the trunk.....wait, forget that!
Sunday was the last home game for Villa, and it was quite an emotional one actually. It signified 25 years since we had won the European Cup, and so they had all the old players who played in that match out on the pitch, and handed out free scalves to the fans to wave, which was fantastic to see, especially as we know what direction the club is going with the new owner in charge, splashing his cash left, right and centre on new players in the summer. Can't wait for the new season, stupid summer break!
The bank holiday weekend also signalled the next Most Haunted Live on living tv, and probably the first one where it was so obvious that they were faking half the reactions when there was no real need to as there was plenty of genuine action going on in the three-night shows. Very disappointed in that but hopefully they will learn and move on. For those of you who watched it, the highlight for me was the awful 'panic' in the caves with Stuart and Karl, who should be ashamed of themselves for their bad acting, which was almost as bad as Yvettes in the cellar with the beer-pumps! (again, that sounds bad but I don't care!)
Anyway on with the short 4 day week, which felt like much longer, although time does seem to stand still at solihull college when ur working there! As I appear to be the only person who gets through the work fairly quickly and accurately, my boss (god bless her!) had decided in her eternal wisdom, to ask for as much work to come down to the office and be inputted before I left, and so I was greeted on a daily basis by tonnes of work on my desk, which is nice to know that someone appreciates you, or at least doesn't want to do the work herself when I've gone, more like it! I suppose the fact that I had a stinking cold for the first 3 days didn't really help the situation, but I gave that to plenty of people and that made me feel much better!
Thursday was a fairly dull day with a good ending, got loads of work done during the day (cue very happy boss!), and had a good laugh at the packhorse, which makes a change as sometimes, ok most of the time, its a pretty dull affair at a chav-den, which isn't the most pleasant experience, but we make up for it by hiding in the corner away from everyone and make fun of the odd people that drink there, so everyones a winner really!
Friday was a good day, particularly as it signalled the end of the longest week on record, and secondly, my friend Jess mailed me to ask if I wanted to meet up with her and her little girl, Brooke, at the Swan, which I duly obliged as I hadn't seen her for ages and ages. Kate wasn't feeling too well but popped up the pub anyway for a good ole gossip, and Gareth dropped by for an hour before he went off to Solihull (which he'll talk about in his post, ooh i should get advertising revenue, so Gareth, you owe me a pint!). Me, Kate and Jess stayed in the pub until about half 9-ish as we were all knackered and had gossiped ourselves out, and that was that!
Saturday was officially re-named 'Cheese Day' (oooh, cheeeeese!), as it was the cheesiest part of the year, yep uve guessed it, its Eurovision night! Lets face it, our entry was so sh*t it never stood a chance, even without the political voting, and I thought we would happily get the nil points we deserved until I saw the diatribe that Ireland served up. It reminded me of a stereotypical drunken night at a Dublin pub, with some blokes' weird sister who couldn't sing a note, and always grabbed the microphone on Karaoke night! As for the rest of Eurovision, it actually wasn't too bad this year. I mean there were truly dreadful entries from the likes of France and Turkey (who the UK gave 12 points to only because the 4 belly dancers came from the UK!), and there was a gloriously bad one from the Ukraine that probably should have won for sheer entertainment, but there were some cracking performances from Russia, who didn't read the script and sent 3 hot looking girls, who could sing a great song, Hungary who had a nice jazzy, Eartha Kitt number, and the winners Serbia who had a fairly decent, poor mans version of the Hungary song.
Sunday was pretty good, spent alot of it doing my coursework as I've gotta get my 1st assignment off to the tutor by the end of this week, as I've already been delaying it for far too long, breaking in between lunch at my aunts, and watching the very action-packed last day of the Premiership season, which was all good fun.
This week is my last week at work, and boy am I loving every second of it. Problems that will come back to bite me on the ass are being sent to other people to deal with as I can't be bothered, my boss is finding more work to throw at me, and I finish on Friday lunchtime, which will be like a massive weight has been lifted off me.....mainly due to me getting hammered on the night!
I will post before I start on Monday, and I shall set you a little competition, with a 'money-can't-buy' prize for the winner.....Intrigued?
