'I've had my fun, but baby I'm done, just wanna go home'
Well its been one of those strange, rollercoaster weeks in the Beagle household. that can only lead to a very odd blog.....so here goes!
Saturday saw me and mom go to the Michael Buble' gig at the NEC. Now, for those in the know, you will be aware that Michael is currently seeing Emily Blunt. So we get to the NEC and as we were a bit early to get our seats , we had a wander round the arena for a nose at all the people, and out of the VIP area came Emily Blunt. So we immediately jump into celebrity-stalker mode as she and a chap head towards the backstage area, and set off in (fairly) hot pursuit, only to see them start kissing right at the end of the corridor. This led us to believe that maybe she isn't Emily Blunt, nor would she be carrying on an affair in front of 12,000 people! We trudged back to our seats and got ready for the show, and what a show it was!
The warm-up act was a troupe from New York called Naturally 7. These guys are amazing! The only way to describe them are 7 Seargent Jones' from the Police Academy movies. They have to be seen to be believed They play no instruments, and use only their voices as the music, and its simply amazing! They were on for about 45 mins, and then it was the main show, which was fantastic.
He did mickey takes of Amy Whinehouse and Elvis, not to mention very funny stand up routines in between songs, plus the first person I have ever seen to do the last verse from his last song, with no big band playing, and no microphone, and he still sounded superb! Added to that the fact that Villa easily beat another couple of old team mates 3.0 and it was a cracking day!
Sunday was a nice relaxing one, which leads to Monday, which wasn't! I had been feeling really ill over the weekend so decided to plead with my consultants secretary to let me have an earlier appointment, which after much wrangling, was booked for Wednesday! So, after booking the day off and finding the hospital in Dudley (well stourbridge really, but not!), I wandered in, ably assisted by mom, as I wasn't entirely sure I'd be able to sit, yet alone drive when I came out!
So picture the scene, you walk calmly into the hospital (after all, you've had the old camera-trick done twice before, so theres nothing different about this one), walk up to reception and give your details, only to be told by the receptionist to 'go down the corridor and the gyneaocology department is on your left', so off we went...........hang on, what did she say!?
It turned out that it was the flexible cystoscopy day, well according to the sign anyway, so in we went and sat down with all the other nervous people in the waiting room. The next hour can only be described as an 'oh my god' moment!
I was called in (wrongly, they had my first and last name mixed up and couldn't spell either!), and got on the bed as per normal in the situation.....
**WARNING - FOR THOSE OF A NERVOUS, OR MALE, DISPOSITION, LOOK AWAY NOW!!**
As before, the anaesthetic was given, and the camera went in. The consultant seemed very unhappy about it, and so asked one of the nurses for something. That something was a wire, no thicker than a hyperdermic needle, which he put down there and had a jab around. Unfortunately, he could not jab around much as there was too much resistance from the collapsed tubing for him to do anything, so he asked for a '10'. One of the nurses then went to the same cupboard and brought out something that looked like a knitting needle, covered in thick plastic. This was not a good sign.......and wasn't.
Well I've had pain before, but this time it didn't actually hurt, it was just unbearably uncomfortable, as the consultant started jabbing away down there in order to open up the collapsed part of the tube. That he did, but then asked for a '12', and then for a '14' (which ironically turned out to be a '16', which is why I almost passed out at one stage, because it was so unbearable!), inbetween putting the camera down there for another look to see how bad the damage was.
Once he had finished poking and prodding around, he told me that he had opened up the tubing sufficiently well for me to be able to not be in excrutiating pain for a while, but would need to have me in for a big operation in Feb/March time where they would take a skin graft from my cheek (on my face, before you ask!), to create the new tubing, which would take a 3 hour operation, and leave me in hospital for 4 days, with a good few weeks off work to recover (small piece of good news!), the only problem is that I've got my cruise in March, so he's going to have me back in to do the same poking procedure 2 weeks before I go on holiday, just so I don't have any problems while i'm away, which will be nice.........probably!
**YOU CAN LOOK BACK NOW, NASTY STUFF HAS GONE AWAY. IN FACT I DIDN'T PUT ALOT OF THE GORY DETAILS IN AS I MAY HAVE BEEN BANNED!!**
So thats your lot from this week, I'm going out for a meal with work on Friday, which should be good, then a lie down in a cold-dark room all weekend to try and get my head round this week!!
