God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen..

Good Tidings one and all, it was our Christmas party on Friday night, and as usual the party went with its usual alcoholic bang!

The names have been removed to protect the innocent......however as there were none, the names have been re-entered, then removed to protect the guilty. They know who they are, and right about now, the grim realisation of what they did should be eating into their very soul!

.....that poor squirrel.....

Anyway, the theme of this years festivities was Victorian, and so as we all arrived at the Custard Factory, we were greeted by hot chestnuts and mulled wine to settle us in before the main drinking, sorry eating and drinking, began! We all had our set tables to sit at, so were all plonked with people in a 'getting to know you' type of event, which was good fun, as I knew pretty much everyone at my table!

The Victorian-themed evening was never the best idea in my concerted opinion. After all, refined dancing and carols sung by a woman wearing traditional dress, doesn't exactly fit in with the booze-and-bust occasion. However after the Victorian dancers had done their routine and sold out by doing the 'lets embarrass members of the audience by making them do some dance steps to what closely resembled Blackpool meets Pride & Prejudice', they left the dance floor to the cheesy music and dancing that the - now drunk - workers had come for all along!

From then on, it was a case of sitting back and watching everyone get obliterated in alcohol, and then remember exactly who did what to whom and when! Of course, I cut some disco moves on the dance floor, and of course was out of this world, and at midnight the disco and bar finished and we were all herded out to stagger into taxis, and wonder if certain members of staff were going to make it home without getting arrested for attacking the local drugged up teenager/their own co-workers, call a taxi driver a 'moustached man' in a fit of anger, or just plain wander off and not remember how they got home.

All in all it was an eventful night to say the least, and a rather enjoyable one for the many people who stayed on the right side of plastered. The memories at work this morning were as fresh as they were on Friday night and the consequences were more than amusing for those of us in the know!

The weekend passed off without too much incident. Villa maintained their form of playing badly but winning, sending us into third spot in the league with a rather tasty match against Arsenal on Boxing Day coming up next. Tom Chambers disgracefully won Strictly Come Dancing, which made our blood boil, then on Sunday we went to get our Christmas food, and spent the rest of the day getting ready for the big day.

I shall blog again on Christmas Eve, where it will be a double celebration, as it will be my 100th blog, woohoo!
