'Tis the Season...

Good Tidings, dear readers (ok so its only me, but i'm working on that!), tis time for another post, this time of the festive variety.

I have today done something that our family have been waiting to do for a long time......


.....no, not that....

....not that either....

..today, I have beaten the guy over the road by putting our outside Christmas lights on before he has, ha!

For the entire 10+ years that the family over the road have been living in our street, my family have had a secret, unspoken, battle to beat them to the Christmas lights-putting-up. Its kind of a legacy that my father passed down to me, and as I turned the lights on (in a rather grand evil genius kind of way), I could almost hear a paranormal cheer!

Ok so its not gonna get me the Nobel Peace prize but it is pretty special, and it did involve me being very sneaky in the dark, and potentially sealing my place at MI5, should they wish to get in touch (coz i can't be bothered to chase after them, after all, they are kinda busy with radioactive russians etc!) I know that everyone in my road gets home from work by about 6pm, so all I had to do was wait till everyone was home, sneak out, lights unfurled (yes its a word, look it up!), open up the ladders without it making too much of a racket, and up they went, all shiny and sparkly. Can't wait to see the look on his face when he realises he's lost, mwaahaahaa!

'Tis also the season for the wonderful Christmas parties, where millions of people can tell their boss exactly what they think of them, whilst pretending to be very drunk. I work at Solihull College, while my legal career is stumbling along, and I am going to two of them, a posh one (black tie ball) and a not-so-posh one, which was on Saturday. It was held at the Corus Hotel, and, as there was no sign of my usual Carlsberg or Carling, I opted, for the first time ever, a few pints of Magners Irish Cider. Now, for anyone that is not familiar with the Irish brew, it basically tastes like Iron Bru, but slightly alcoholic, so it gets my vote!!
