Recovery: Week 2

Greetings fellow bloggers, apologies for not posting every day, but to be frank, not alot happened, so I thought I'd do one big blog and get it all out the way!

So, this week was pretty much the same as last week, but with a few advantages. I'm feeling back to normal pretty much, after my operation a couple of weeks ago, the antibiotics have worked a treat so I'm back to work next week (woo-bloody-hoo!). The week was going fairly benign until wednesday, when I had something very nice through the post. Christies had printed off the catalogue for the forthcoming auction on the 3rd April and sent me a copy, which is brilliant. I have 13 lots for the auction, comprising of 6,433 individual football programmes, and 11,304 football programmes when you count up all the copies, as well as a football shirt and two signed photos from Stan Lynn, the ex-Aston Villa player, who we knew very well. Unfortunately I'm not going to be getting £1 per programme unless its a very good day and someone bids way too much for a few of the items, but we'll make a pretty penny off that little lot, so we're looking forward to that next month.

It was quite a shock to have it all official and in print, and it kind of makes you realise just how much responsibility I took on when I typed up the whole collection back in August, and it is quite humbling to see something you've committed yourself to for the last 5-6 months or so, finally come to fruition. But it then made me realise something about my age, I'm 26 this year, and I've just not achieved what I wanted. I'm nowhere near the job I want, no law firm wants to touch me with a 5 mile barge pole, and I've not had a job in a law firm since I walked out of my last one over 2 years ago because of the extreme bullying (which, if I had the money, or the inclination at the time, could have made life very difficult for my old firm at the time, it was THAT bad). I'm pretty much always in debt, caused mainly by my previous point. I'm not a qualified lawyer yet, something which I promised myself to do when I was 19 (it takes 5 years to qualify), although I am very happy with being half qualified and love my career choice despite everything.

the 20-30 age category is meant to be the time when you get all the qualifications you need for a career, then join the perfect company and develop your career before you hit 30 and start earning the serious money you only dreamed about 10 years ago, not to mention settling down with a nice (or nasty) girl and getting your own place, although strangely I'm not actually bothered about that, never have been. I'm sure I'll have a phase when thats all I think about but I've not been bitten by the bug yet. Good job too, can't afford it!

So I shall leave you with that sombre thought, and hope that, when I start the next part of my course next week, it will be the first day of the rest of my life. Take note Gareth, this is 25-extreme styley!
