4 Payslips till Christmas!
Thought I'd spread the word!
Depressed enough? Good, then let us begin!
We'll begin last weekend, Saturday was a pretty good day, Villa were playing Inter Milan in a friendly in the afternoon, and the ground was packed to the rafters. It was a really good game played at full pelt by both teams, and Villa deservedly ran out 3.0 winners, which was a good sign as the season was just round the corner. On the evening I spent a pretty good hour or so doing my coursework. Boring I know, but mom was out at a friends wedding anniversary and the work had to be done, so I did it!
Sunday was an all-action adventure (sort of). We decided to treat my aunt to a slap up meal at Cielo in Brindleyplace, so we went there for lunchtime, then had a walk round the city centre, which looks as gorgeous as it normally does on a summers day. The evening was spent at the Barfly in Digbeth. Adrenaline were headlining, and apart from the place only being about half full (work night I suppose), and the fact that the first 2 bands forgot to mention who they were, which was a shame in one sense as the first band were pretty good, but then again the second band were diabolical, Adrenaline themselves and Transcendant were really good.
Monday was a real struggle, although getting to bed for 1am the night before probably didn't help too much! An advert had appeared on the intranet at work advertising for an Administrator position. Now, when I originally applied to the firm, I applied for an Administrator vacancy, as it seemed the perfect job for me, then applied for the position I got as a backup, because I knew I'd get some crappy office junior role. So, with the words of my boss ringing in my ears ('sorry for putting you in such a lowly job for your skills') I applied for it....and immediately got shortlisted for an interview tomorrow (15th)! The position itself is an internal only vacancy, and having found out who has gone for it in the firm, lets put it this way, the toys will really be thrown out of the pram if I don't get it! Not only do I have more experience than all of them put together, but I have been doing bits of the job (outside my own job spec) for the last 3 months. But I suppose its all to do with how you put yourself across on the day, but never fear, I shall post as soon as I know either way tomorrow from work, so you will be one of the first to hear, neat eh!
The teenyboppers have been irritating the cr*p outa me all last week too. They do this immature thing whereby they hurl email abuse at each other all day (suppose it beats doing any work!), its all gentle stuff as they have the brains of a rock, but because they're teenagers, they don't have an 'off' button, so regularly cross the line. On Thursday I went to the pub with Nicola, which was great, and decided that I didn't want a budweiser, but instead decided on the ole wife-beater stella instead. So getting back to the office and seeing the abuse had started, this time on me, the red mist formed, and I started the abuse back, very gently at first, knowing that as soon as they went over that line, I would be in my right mind to murder them and throw them off the top floor of the ICC!
They duly obliged by saying 'I can't see myself at the age of 25 being in this job and earning £11,500 a year, call that a career?'
......bad move losers......
After unclenching my fists I politely informed them of some home truths, which hit a few nails on the head in a long 3 paragraph tirade, which I'm not sure they completely understood as there were a few long words in there, but the got the general drift and one of them even apolgised to me, which was quite funny!
Thursday night was the usual foray into the Packhorse, but this time I brought along my mate Jo, who everyone gets on with and it was great to see her again, as we'd not seen each other since.....well.....December! I know bad friend, but all is right now!
Great news too, one of the teenyboppers has left today too, woohoooo!!!!!!!He's gone on holiday before starting at University. Actually out of all of them, he was the only one I had a small amount of time for, but one down is good enough for me, lets hope by the end of tomorrow, I'll be rid of them all!!!
Went to the footy again on saturday, Villa played their first game of the season against Liverpool on saturday. Liverpool deserved to win and did so through a corrupt referee as per usual, but the match itself had the ring of a first game of the season feel to it. Both teams playing good and bad football, and the fair weather fans were out again, moaning every time something reasonably bad happened, at one stage even trying to start a fight between 2 of them, one screaming to the other 'what the f*ck are you talking about, you know nothing you p***k', which was funny enough, but when you consider both morons were shouting the same abuse at the players and had the same gormless opinion of everything, it was hilarious! Oh well, they'll be back for the Blues, Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal game, as will every other idiot who is a 'true' supporter i.e buys the kit once a year and checks the league table every 6 months, bless!
**RANT TIME**
You had your warning!
Right, a couple of months ago I had a call from Christies to tell me that my football programmes had to be given to another auction house, Roseberys, in South Norwood, as their sporting auctions had closed down. I agreed an waited expectantly for a letter to say would I mind having the programmes put into an auction on such-and-such date. So I waited.....and waited.....and waited, until I had a letter through from them about 3 weeks ago to tell me that they had put the programmes in an 'Antiques' auction, and not only had 2 out of the 8 lots sold, but the money paid for them was far less than the reserve price that Christies had put them down at after the original auction, I was not an amused bunny I can tell you!
So, yesterday I had a letter from them again to tell me that not only had another 'Antiques' auction happened, but the remaining lots had sold for far far FAR less than expected as they hadn't put a reserve price on it, so they basically got rid of it. The result is that all the programmes have now been sold (Good) but for absolutely ridiculous amounts (Very Bad), and of course as I signed them all over to them in good faith, and the auction has already happened, I can't go back to them and say 'Balls to you, you insignificant morons!'
So to whoever has the programmes, I say to you 'Well Done'. You have some very valuable programmes, some worth far more than you realise at the moment. So good luck to you, your retirement income awaits!!
**RANT OVER**
Right thats about it from me, I shall blog tomorrow to let you know how it goes, so BRING IT ON!!
