Day Two: All at Sea

The day after the day we arrived....which by all accounts would be our second day on the boat was spent travelling from Barbados which is in the Southern Caribbean, to Tortola, part of the British Virgin Islands in the Northern Caribbean. I can't describe the intense, giggling pleasure of waking up and seeing no land anywhere!

As we had a nice free day, we decided to get our bearings and have a wander round the boat, first with an official tour of the boat finishing off with an hour long talk about the various islands we would be visiting in the coming week, and again later on, after a spot of lunch.

Now, we knew the boat was big, we kinda got that impression when we couldn't find our own rooms on the first day, but walking round the boat gave you the impression that you were in a floating city, which, basically we were!

The on-board facilities include a Gym and Health spa (of course, I was in there every morning before breakfast!), a casino (where I got a vague idea of how to play roulette after watching a woman win £700 and another woman lose more), 6 bars, a theatre-type arena where most of the big shows went on, a village square which had 4 duty free shops, a coffee shop, an internet cafe (is £8 for 30 minutes or £12 for an hour expensive?), an art gallery and auction, 4 restaraunts, including James Martin's restaraunt (he's a TV chef incase u don't know), plus a couple of swimming pools and other, less glamourous facilities, such as doctors, laundry service, hairdressers etc.

Basically, a blummin big ship, but luckily they did give you a map upon boarding the ship, which proved very useful when we got lost, which we did.......quite often......every few hours! There were varying forms of entertainment on board the ship on the hour, every hour. Usually the daytime was handed over to the classes, for example salsa class or art appreciation, or learning to be a trapeze artist, which I decided to pass on as it was just after lunch!

The remainder of the day was spent unpacking, as we had arrived so late in the evening the night before, and after dinner, headed for a drink whilst we watched one of the many acrobats do their stuff, before heading for bed, because the next day, we were in Tortola!

Normal blog bit

(I really should come up with a catchy title for this bit)

Anyway, since I last blogged, the work has increased slightly for me in my new/old job thingy, which is good as I've now got a proper feel for the work and am enjoying it more and more, which is never a bad thing!

Saturday saw the mighty Villa rise to the occasion, which by all accounts had been lacking recently, and flatten the hapless Bolton 4.0. For some reason, my season card wasn't being recognised at the turnstile, which was a bit of an arse, but the chap in the villa office who I spoke to assured me that it wasn't their fault......oh goodie! Don't fancy going all the way over to the ticket office before the blues game to make sure my ticket is alright. Don't know why, its probably because I'll have to cross 4 lines of riot police and a hail of rocks from the inbreds from our near neighbours, and I don't really wanna do that again!

Thursday saw me back to the good ole pub (back to earth with a bump!), and if anyone else had turned up, that would have made it a pretty good night! To be fair Ben turned up, in fact he was there before I was, and we had a good night, mainly trying to work out just how Jason had destroyed yet another car in his possession!

We've finally sorted out the video and photos from our holiday, which makes us more depressed every time we look at it, and so next blog, you shall be joining us in our mutual depression, so until then, sweet bloggers, goodbye!
