Day Fourteen: St Vincent

Well if we wanted a day to forget about Martinique, then this was the place to come! As our last island, we really wanted to get back to what we remember from our first week, the amazing colour of the islands, the weird and wonderful buildings, all the things that had made the holiday so blummin brilliant so far.

So, after boarding the coach in the morning, we climbed up 600ft above the bay to Fort Charlotte, where we stayed for around half an hour. Most of the islands were, at one stage, part of filming or location sets for the Pirates of the Caribbean films, but this Boatyard was where they made the real-life versions of the Black Pearl!

The fort was quite stunning, we could see as far as Richard Bransons 1st and 2nd islands, although they are only 200 miles off the coast!

Frrom there we headed down to the Botanical Gardens, which were simply stunning. The gardens were created back in the 1700's so most of the trees are really mature, which gives them a spooky, gnarled look, and there were some lovely green areas, which again you wouldn't have thought before you came to the Caribbean!

Typical, you try and take a photo, and some dashing young man pops his head in the way of your shot! (the video is ace, by the way, even getting a shot of a tree planted by Captain Bligh in 1793!)

From there, we headed down the valleys, through the breadfruit tree and banana plantations and eventually found ourselves at an exclusive beach bar for our daily tot of rum! There we found the rich and the fabulous, sitting by the pools, watching the world go by, as this was a private villa complex, with each villa costing ridiculous figures, although I think it would probably be worth it!

...together with your own private view (if you ignore the tourists!)

After that we headed back to the boat for our last sleep on deck with a good book and a cocktail, watched the final performance from both comedians and Robbie and George lookalikeys and headed back to our cabins to pack, as tomorrow, it was Barbados and home!

Ooh, almost forgot, our last sunset *sniff* *sniff*

'Working 9 to 5, Woo'

I've had that song in my head all week, so now you can share the love (they're making a musical of that, you know. Don't ask how I know, I just do!)

This week has been a hard working one at work, as per normal, but respite came in the form of a barbie at Gemma's house on saturday night with Becky, Jason and a handful of their friends. I gave Gareth, Carl and Adam a lift down there, and a good time was had by all. I dropped the lads back at Gareths house for about 1-ish, then headed home to watch really really bad TV that can only be put that far back in the schedules. I decided that I had to go to be as my brain had turned to mush when I started watching 'kids do the funniest things' on living tv and started to quite enjoy it!
A highlight of the week was watching the villa lads parading their new kit just outside my office. Despite the rain, a good sized crowd turned up and the kits look really good, well worth an investment when they come out at the end of july, especially with the charity emblazoned on the front.
Thats about it from me, another barbie this weekend, together with a euro trip for the villa in the intertoto cup, which should be good fun, so until then, so long!
