Commeth the hour, commeth the lord!
The Russians are a noble bunch of fellas. They still harp on like they are the big superpower they used to be, still spend oil money like its going out of fashion, and when they get a bit of spare time, they bomb Georgia, however they have a very apt way of describing Sunday afternoon, as Voskresenie, or 'Resurrection Day'.
On Sunday a certain football match was played between the two oldest members of the football league, Everton and the mighty Villa. For those of you who didn't watch the game and aren't still in a state of shock, I shall recap the events of sunday. Villa scored the fastest goal of the season after just 34 seconds, an absolute sparkler from about 30 yards, then Everton hit back after about 35 minutes to take the game into half time as a draw. Villa played well but not brilliantly, didn't hold onto the ball very well, and this continued after the break, as Everton kept coming at us, but not really hurting us when they had their chances.
Then the silly season started in earnest. A backpass from an Everton defender broke to, the now ethereal, Ashley Young, who popped it into the net for an unlikely 2.1 lead and that was how the game stayed until the last minute of injury time, when Everton equalised and had a bit of a party to celebrate, as you do when you've just saved the game....
....or had they?
30 seconds after the restart, that man again Ashley Young scored an absolute blinder of a goal with virtually the last kick of the game to take all 3 points, and send every villa fan into hyperspace! I will admit to effing and jeffing when they equalised, as we had been inviting them onto us all game, but no sooner had I got half way through my tirade, it was all taken back by the legend that is Ashley!
Apart from that, I went to the Glee Club on friday, which was fairly good, although I have now officially realised that I am rubbish in social situations. Not only can I not hear a blummin thing anyone says when any music is blaring out, and not think of a single thing to say to anyone during a night, no matter what I have in common with them, but I hate the fact that I have to shout to make myself heard. Just can't be arsed with it any more, I'm old but I don't care!!
